February 10, 2011
Mississippi -

Due to continuing hazardous road conditions, the Mississippi Department of Employment Security closed 22 offices Thursday.

WIN Job Centers in these cities will not open: Amory, Batesville, Belzoni, Clarksdale, Cleveland, Columbus, Corinth, Greenwood, Greenville, Grenada, Indianola, Houston, Iuka, Koscuisko, Lexington, Louisville, New Albany, Oxford, Ripley, Southaven, Tunica and Tupelo.

The agency also canceled Mobile WIN Job Center visits to Booneville and Charleston that were scheduled for Thursday.

Those needing assistance may reach the agency’s call center at 888-844-3577. Many services are also available through the agency’s website, www.mdes.ms.gov.

MDES will continue to evaluate road conditions and will work with emergency management officials to determine if offices should remain closed longer.

The Mobile WIN Job Centers are expected to resume their visits and are scheduled to be in Monticello and Quitman next week.

All other MDES offices — including the state office in Jackson and WIN Job Centers across the state — opened at noon today.
