The WOTC program helps people who have difficulty finding a job who belong to one of nine targeted groups, which include: Short-term Welfare Recipients, Veterans, Ex-felons, Designated Community Residents, Vocational Rehabilitation Referrals, Summer Youth, Food Stamp Recipients, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients, and Long-term Family Assistance Recipients. Private for profit businesses may receive tax credits as an incentive to hire someone from one of the nine groups.
