Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)

The WOTC program helps people who have difficulty finding a job who belong to one of nine targeted groups, which include: Short-term Welfare Recipients, Veterans, Ex-felons, Designated Community Residents, Vocational Rehabilitation Referrals, Summer Youth, Food Stamp Recipients, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients, and Long-term Family Assistance Recipients.  Private for profit businesses may receive tax credits as an incentive to hire someone from one of the nine groups.  To find out if you belong in one of these groups and to learn more about how WOTC may help you, click on Frequently Asked Questions.
